What is BirthMatters?

  • In Spartanburg County, we are a doula network serving all pregnant women and those who are 20 years old and younger, will be served at no charge
  • In Cherokee County, we are a team of community-based doulas serving first-time pregnant mothers-to-be at no charge
  • Doulas will provide educational and non-medical labor support, throughout pregnancy and birth, complementing and enhancing medical care

BirthMatters' Vision

Women supported by our doulas will have a satisfying and empowering experience during childbirth. Scientific evidence reports women who are satisfied with their births bond more with their babies.  We encourage expecting mothers to prepare for childbirth and strive to make it a wonderful and a joyful experience.

What is a doula?

A woman who is trained to provide continuous physical, emotional, and educational support to the laboring mother and family, before, during, and after childbirth.
